Pathways for Discipleship
York Diocesan Training Team: Encouraging Mission and Ministry across the Diocese of York
The Diocesan Training Team exists to encourage lay and ordained ministry in all parts of the diocese. We are delighted to receive requests from you for information on what we already offer, for custom-built training and information on courses and events elsewhere.
We describe what we do as ‘Pathways for Discipleship’ to remind us all that we are called to grow as disciples as Christ, and that there are many paths down which he takes us in order to grow.
We aim to build pathways through a number of activities including:
- Parishes and deaneries – resourcing away days and strategies
- Lay training – special events and the range of Equipping God’s People courses
- Reader ministry – initial training and continuing education
- Ordained ministry – continuing training for curates and Continual Ministerial Education (CME) after that
- Information on and grants for external courses and training
- Consultation on training needs through any of the Team members
- Information on training for ordained ministry from the Diocesan Adviser on Vocations
We will soon be providing more information on
- Evangelism and church growth
- Leadership development
We also act in partnership with Christians Learning Across Yorkshire (CLAY) - you can download their leaflet of training opportunities below.
