The Diocese of York is committed to being a family of growing churches, and produced a course (ideal for Lent) to help churches grow.
It's written by David Butterfield (former Archdeacon of Generous Giving and Stewardship) and edited by Gavin Wakefield (Director of Training for Missional Ministry).
There are five sessions, which look at how individuals and churches can grow in Christ-likeness, Influence, Partnership, Numbers, and finishing with Commitment, giving participants a chance to recommit themselves to Christ and to serving him.
The material for each session includes:
- discussing spiritual disciplines that enable us to put ourselves in a place where Christ-likeness can develop in us
- looking at the way that people work in partnership in your church
- imagining what Jesus would say if he conducted an OFSTED inspection in the diocese, deanery, or church
- eating crisps!
