The first annual gathering of The Friends of Selby Abbey, to which all are invited, will take place in The Abbey on Friday 8th July. Tours of The Abbey, visits to the bell-ringing chamber and tower trips (weather permitting) will take place from 2.00pm. There will be a talk by The Abbey’s inspecting architect, David Sherriff, at 4.00pm. Light refreshments will be served at 5.00pm and the first Annual General Meeting will take place at 6.00pm. The day will conclude with Choral Evensong at 6.30pm at which the Bishop of Selby, The Right Reverend Dr John Thomson, will preach.
