www.acts435.org.uk, the Archbishop of York’s online giving charity, today announced the selection of Acts435 for the prestigious Nominet Internet Awards 2014 . From a strong list of entries, York-based, Acts 435 has made it through to the shortlist of 36 organisations and initiatives for the Awards.

Acts 435 is an innovative website which puts people who are in need in touch with those that can help. It is a very simple idea to help those facing practical difficulties. Every penny goes to the requests a donor chooses to support.

Jenny Herrera, Executive Director of Acts 435 says: “We are delighted to have been selected from such a strong set of entries and hope that as more people hear of Acts 435, it leads to many more people in poverty receiving the critical help they need at a difficult moment in their lives.”

A panel of experts, including Eben Upton, the Founder of Raspberry Pi and Chi Onwurah, MP & Shadow Cyber Security Minister, will select the winners at the awards ceremony on Thursday 3rd July 2014 at the London Film Museum.

The Nominet Internet Awards celebrate the achievements and innovation of organisations or individuals doing great work online for the benefit of their business, the wider economy, local communities or the UK’s internet users in general. The awards aim to showcase projects from UK businesses, charities, individuals and public and private sector organisations which help to make the internet a more secure, open, accessible and diverse experience for all. This year’s entries include a project to help mums gets to grips with technology, a virtual hospital for dementia sufferers, a price comparison site for the energy market and an interactive school guide for parents.
