Kenda is an inspirational speaker, passionate about God, youth and the church. She recognises that the church needs to change and strives to equip and empower those with a vision for the future. She is an ordained elder in the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference (United Methodist) and professor of youth, church and culture at Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey, USA; where she set up and still works closely with the Institute of Youth Ministry.

Kenda has extensive experience in new ministry development, and alongside Mark DeVries recently began Ministry Incubators, an initiative designed to support innovative leaders as they strive to move from hare-brained idea to sustainable forms of ministry.

Kenda is the author of several books including Almost Christian: What the Faith of Our Teenagers Is Telling the American Church, The Godbearing Life (with Ron Foster), The Theological Turn in Youth Ministry (with Andrew Root), and A More Excellent Way: How Youth Ministry Can Change Theological Education, If We Let It (with Christy Lang Hearlson)
