The North East Branch of the Christian Motorcyclists’ Association and St Hilda’s Church, Bilsdale Priory, teamed up on Sunday 13th August to hold an open-air Memorial Service for Fallen Bikers and Friends at Chop Gate Village Hall, beside the classic biker route B1257 through Bilsdale from Helmsley to Stokesley.

The CMA’s Paul Wedgwood and local Vicar the Revd Anne Heading led the short service for 28 assorted bikers (with bikes) and friends.

“The names of loved ones were read out,” said Churchwarden Carol McGee, “including those who had lost their lives on road race tracks, the highway or died due to ill health."

Tea and homemade cakes were served before and after the service.

“There was time to reflect and talk to each other whilst the weather was kind to us,” added Carol.

“Thank you to all who came.”
