In March, the Diocese launched a new Parish Loan Scheme and increased the amount of money available to parishes in Grants for Repairs to Parish Buildings. We’re delighted to say that these have already been very popular, and we are making a few changes to align the Grant scheme to our Diocesan vision of being Generous Churches Making and Nurturing Disciples.

Grants will continue to be available for works arising from Quinquennial Inspections and on-going maintenance. When you complete an application form for a grant which doesn’t relate to essential repairs you will be asked to include a commentary which sets out how the grant will facilitate new initiatives and projects which are aligned with the diocesan vision of being Generous Churches Making and Nurturing Disciples especially the five marks of growing (in Christ-likeness, commitment, partnership, influence and numbers).

Grants will continue to be available for works arising from Quinquennial Inspections and on-going maintenance. It is expected that PCCs which make applications under the grant scheme will contribute generously year on year to the Common Fund, to support other churches in the Diocese in turn.

The loan scheme will continue to be available the same, allowing parishes to borrow money to help complete building works to churches or church buildings and to enable mission projects which supports growth in one of our five marks.

Finally, don’t forget that grants are also available from the Archbishop’s Mission Fund as seedcorn funding for mission initiatives.

We hope the renewed Grants for Repairs to Parish Buildings and other funding that is available from the diocese help your church to grow and flourish!
