Two teams of runners are getting set to run coast to coast across Yorkshire and Lancashire between sunrise and sunset in one day, Saturday 24th June, Midsummer's Day.

That’s the challenge York housing charity, Restore, has set for the athletic (and not so athletic) among us to raise funds to house homeless people in York.

Setting out at 4:27am as the sun rises in Bridlington they head for the west coast to arrive 130 miles away near Morecambe at 9:48pm as the sun goes down. This marathon of a challenge is organised as a relay of aproximately 40 people. Between them they aim not only to run the race but to raise £500 each in sponsorship for their efforts.

One of the team, running 12k is our very own HR Manager, Andy Richardson who says, “I’m looking forward to the run, which goes through some lovely countryside and it’s good to support the work of this great local charity.”

The runners will be escorted by four cyclists, to help them find the route and to keep them safe. In fact, one of the cycling team is aiming to ride the whole route, which is no mean feat!

Restore provides housing and support for up to 31 people who have been homeless, in 8 properties in the city. Once they have found somewhere to call home,Restore work to equip tenants to sustain their tenancy.
