Joel Owen, Deputy Director for Development and Asset Management at JRHT, said, “we are delighted to welcome the Archbishop of York to Derwenthorpe, which as well as providing much needed housing in the city, is creating a new, modern, low-carbon community fit for the 21st century. It has been really pleasing to see how a community spirit has developed at Derwenthorpe with the nearby areas”.

On Tuesday 12 April, the Archbishop will be calling in at Barley Studios, a stained glass workshop to meet with Helen Whittaker who designed the Afghan Memorial Window which was dedicated at All Saints Pavement Church last October. Later in the day, after his visit to Warthill Church of England School, Archbishop Sentamu will be calling in at Dean’s Garden Centre.

On Wednesday 13 April, the Archbishop is visiting Bubwith Community Primary School, North Duffield Playgroup, Queen Margaret’s School and Escrick Church of England Primary School for Pilgrimage prayers and classroom work. Stillingfleet Methodist Church is the venue for 5pm Pilgrimage prayers.

At 7.30pm St Mary’s Riccall Church is hosting an evangelistic evening with the Archbishop – all are welcome.

On Friday 15 April, following Pilgrimage Prayers, the Archbishop will be walking from Hagg Bridge to Sutton on Derwent to call in at a local agricultural and road workers contractor.
