Huge helium-filled planets join the ever growing stage at the magnificent York Minster as the 2016 production of the Mystery Plays draws nearer.

It’s 16 years since the plays were last staged at the cathedral and only the second time in their near 700 year history. The medieval Minster’s magnificent Nave will be transformed into a 1,000-seater auditorium for the production, which opens on Thursday 26 May and runs for five weeks until Thursday 30 June.

Community Director Sophie Paterson from Seattle, America, speaks to camera about the arrival of the showpiece planets in the video on the right.

The balloons are currently on the stage at York Minster. For further information on the Plays, or to arrange a press visit, please get in touch.
