Over 100 people took part in the Hull Fresh Expressions Vision Day at Cottingham High School on Saturday 7th June.

Church of England and Methodist Church members from across the Hull area heard Bishop Richard open the day with a timely reminder of the challenging, yet encouraging, account of the older brother in Jesus’ famous parable of the Prodigal Son.

The participants shared in interactive presentations from Andrew Vertigan and Abigail Rose from the National Fresh Expressions team and were inspired by seminars considering working with children, opening the church doors to the community and starting a Fresh Expression from scratch.

Key ideas from the day included the self-giving example of Jesus in service and love, the central importance of relationships in connecting with people currently beyond our churches and the value of sharing our stories of mission with each other.

The event was coordinated by an ecumenical team including the Revd Matthew Brailsford (Hull Deanery advisor in Fresh Expressions and Evangelism).
