Jamie Walton, one of the most distinctive cellists of his generation, will play Bach’s Cello Suites 1, 2 and 3 in the ballroom of Jacobean Birdsall House near Malton to help raise funds for Burythorpe Church in the parish of West Buckrose.

The Willoughby family, owners of Birdsall House, and Jamie Walton have generously agreed to hold this event to secure funding for the restoration of the West End of Burythorpe Church with its 2 bells and which is a local landmark visible for miles around.

The church received an interest-free loan from the Diocese of York to help the congregation and village community to repair the bell-cote stonework in 2017 as part of its bell tower appeal but is now keen to repay the loan by hosting an event in the beautiful venue.

The recital will be held in the magnificent ballroom of Birdsall House with a wine and canapes reception afterwards in the Dining room.

The house was built in the mid sixteenth century and sits in an open valley on the North West edge of the Yorkshire Wolds about half an hour east of the City of York and is not usually open to the public, so this is a rare opportunity to see its elegant state rooms.

The Concert will be at 7.00pm on Friday, 12th October 2018 and tickets costing £20 each are available from 1st September by phoning 01653 658610.
