LYCIG Follow-up Days

Parishes right across the diocese are continuing to develop their mission plans and action using Leading your Church into Growth. Recently we held three follow up days for parishes that took part in the 2016 Conference, in York, Marton and Beverley.

Over 200 people took part in a day of inspiring Bible study, learning from one another, discovering more about teambuilding, and developing their own plans. We heard some encouraging stories of what is already happening, as well as realism about the scale of the task.

Here are just a few typical comments:

“Bishop Paul’s Bible study was very inspiring and helpful”

“it was great to hear from people who were further along this journey, and to realise we need to take pace ourselves”

“we were pleased to be bale to saner ideas with people from other places”

“I now realise this is a marathon, not a sprint – and we are up for it!”

So we are planning to hold further follow day in autumn 2017, open to all parishes which took part in either the 2015 or the 2016 LYCIG Conferences. So make a note of the dates now!

  • 30th September: York, with Sarah Bullock
  • 14th October: East Riding with Bishop Alison
  • 14th October: Cleveland as part of the Archdeaconry Gathering with Bishop Paul and Archdeacon Sam Rushton

And if you would like to drop us a line about how it’s going for you send your story (and a picture if possible) to growth@yorkdiocese.org. We would love to hear from you!
