The Bishop of Hull, the Rt Revd Alison White, will licence a new vicar for nine parishes in South Holderness on Thursday 8th October, at 7 pm in St Matthew’s church in Owthorne. The Revd Martin Faulkner will become the vicar of the Withernsea Benefice which also includes the villages of Garton, Grimston, Hilston, Hollym, Holmpton, Owthorne, Roos and Tunstall.

Martin said, “I previously worked in the Bolingbroke Benefice in Lincolnshire which has over 28 churches in it, as well as spending a short period as the priest for the Skegness Group which included ministering to such exotic places as Butlins and the Fantasy Island Theme Park.

“I also worked part time at the Lincoln School of Theology assisting in the training of Readers and Ordinands and also as one of the Emergency Disaster Chaplains for Lincolnshire but, fortunately, I was never called out!

“I am excitedly looking forward to working with all of the churches in the Benefice and meeting the people who live in the South Holderness area.”

Martin is married to Kaye and they have two daughters, Angharad and Eleri. Martin enjoys reading, cycling and walking.
