On Sunday 24th May, 77 children and their families came for an afternoon of activity and worship at Wellburn Hall School for Pentecost Fire: Northern Ryedale Deanery's family day.

The Revd Tim Robinson, Vicar of Helmsley and Upper Ryedale, and Rural Dean of Northern Ryedale said, "Families were greeted as they arrived with a lively steel band. We had a BIG SING with Jo Bowden and I enthusing kids and adults to sing rounds and sing in parts. Then there were lots of activities - a climbing wall, scalextrics, orienteering, not one but two bouncy castles, football, go-carts, teeshirt printing, duck tape crafts (you should see the trendy mobile phone covers we made!), singing.

"'For the (G)love of God', St Barnabas’ Church. Middlesbrough, brought along their puppeteers - who were fabulous. Three hours later, somewhat exhausted but exhilarated, everyone sat down for a picnic which led to a great time of worship and sharing of the day. We were blessed with sunshine and warmth. We wanted to show something of the generosity of God and to invite an outflowing of the Holy Spirit.

"Susan Binks (Reader and about to be ordained Deacon) is chaplain at Wellburn Hall and felt that the grounds were both lovely and suitable for our Deanery's family day. Hazel Smith, Headteacher of Wellburn Hall School gave us fantastic support and although she lives in Hull came on the day as was a wonderful support. We had a fantastic team of enthusiastic, skilled and imaginative people. We had 77 children plus their parents, some of whom are not churchgoers. Everyone had a great time. Our only question now is: What next?"
