A new Diocesan Children’s and Youth Adviser

In line with our diocesan goals of reaching, growing and sustaining, we will shortly be advertising for an individual to oversee the strategic development of our Children’s and Youth work across the Diocese and begin a process of reshaping the current, archdeaconry post approach for Children and Youth.

The purpose of this new role will be to provide strategic oversight for the ministry among children, young people and their families at every level throughout the Diocese. It is envisaged that the new post holder will lead with passion and vision in order to support the variety of partners at parish, deanery and archdeaconry level so that children and young people grow in faith and are supported in their discipleship journey. The new post will align with a more diocesan wide approach, particularly in relation to Leading Your Church into Growth (LyCiG), 20s-40s ministry and People in Poverty, and will ensure that children and young people are at the heart of all that we do.

The new adviser will be part of the Diocesan Education Team and will build upon the growing links between schools and parishes, both in Church or community school settings, and the ongoing provision for Children and Youth. It is hoped that this further integration of our work with schools and parishes will enable the new post holder to hear clearly the needs of the whole Diocese and broker specific support from a range of sources for parishes, deaneries and archdeaconries based on the requirements of each locality.

Further updates will follow as the reshaping continues, both through the eNews and TheMailing, and please do continue to pray for all those involved in work with children and young people.
