Sentamu’s Scarborough Seaside Pilgrimage

Archbishop Sentamu will be out and about in Scarborough next week (27-31 January 2016) on his Pilgrimage of Prayer, Witness and Blessing.

On his first Pilgrimage day in the original seaside resort, the Archbishop will be in the Eastfield Ward, calling in at Eastfield Children’s Centre and in the afternoon at Basics Plus Betton Farm. On Thursday, the Archbishop will walk from Rocks Lane to Cloughton along the disused railway track, accompanied by schoolchildren from Hackness Church of England Primary School, staff & parents. He will later visit St Luke’s Church Toddler Praise and meet staff & patients at Scarborough Hospital. He is joining the Sidewalk Team, a detached youth project, around Scarborough in the evening. On Friday he will call into Filey Infant School and the Ebor Academy. He will visit Woodend Creative in Scarborough and lead prayers at St Martin’s on the Hill before meeting with staff at the Stephen Joseph Theatre.

During his Pilgrimage, Archbishop Sentamu will be praying for people in the community and will take every opportunity to talk to everyone he meets about the love of God. For opportunities to meet, to walk, or to pray with the Archbishop, please visit: http://pilgrimage.archbishopofyork.org/

On Saturday, the Archbishop will be joining the Men’s Breakfast at St Mark’s Church, then celebrating St Columba’s Church 90th anniversary, and he will be walking to the Brunswick Centre, calling at the Newcastle Packet Inn, Harbour, seafront and Spa. In the evening, the Archbishop will attend the Rainbow Centre Youth Group’s “Rich Person Poor Person Meal” fundraising event.

On Sunday, the Archbishop will lead the 10am service at St Mark’s Church, Newby and later is to call in at St Catherine’s Hospice. Archbishop Sentamu began his Pilgrimage at Whitby last December and has since journeyed through Guisborough, Middlesbrough, Stokesley, Mowbray, Northern Ryedale and Bridlington. His Pilgrimage will finish in York Minster on Trinity Sunday (22 May 2016). Following Scarborough, the Archbishop will continue his Pilgrimage in the Harthill Deanery during the first week in February.
