Popular religious programme Songs of Praise is to feature Hull’s Holy Trinity Church ahead of its re-dedication as a Minster.
Presenter Aled Jones and the Songs of Praise team filmed at Holy Trinity as part of a feature which also highlighted the beginning of Hull’s year as UK City of Culture.
Aled interviewed the Vicar of Holy Trinity, the Reverend Canon Dr Neal Barnes, who said:
“We were delighted to host Aled and his colleagues. We’re incredibly proud and humbled that Holy Trinity is to become a Minster and delighted that the Songs of Praise team have decided to feature the church ahead of the re-dedication. Our development project is progressing well and we’re all thrilled that Holy Trinity’s status and role is being elevated, especially during such a hugely important year for Hull.”
The feature will be broadcast on Songs of Praise on BBC One at 4.25pm on Sunday, January 22nd. It highlights the work of the clergy, staff and congregation as they prepare for a landmark event that recognises the progress of the development project and how the church is reaching out to the community in so many ways.
A cornerstone of religious broadcasting since 1961, Songs of Praise is one of the longest-running television programmes of its kind anywhere in the world. Over recent years the show has adopted a more magazine-style format but it remains focused on hymns, praise and good news stories of faith from across the UK.
