St John's Pre-School Nursery was judged to be Outstanding in every area during its recent OFSTED Inspection.

The nursery was set up as a trust in June 2007 by St John's, Newland, Church to provide early years education for the local community. A recent inspection found that 'teaching is consistently of a very high quality and children make exceptional progress in their learning'.

'The well-qualified pre-school nursery team are well supported by the highly effective manager' and they ensure that 'children speedily develop in confidence and independence.'

'Children are eager, excited and challenged to ask lots of questions developing highly positive attitudes towards learning for future learning and in preparation for school.'

Parents are kept exceptionally well informed and highly involved, are highly satisfied with the service they and their children receive describing the pre-school nursery as an 'fantastic place', with a 'wonderful atmosphere' and 'this is just the best nursery'

The report noted that the setting has very strong links with the church and the Christian faith. Children also learn about other cultures and celebrations, such as Chinese New Year. Partnerships with parents, outside agencies, community members and other providers remain strong.
