The Revd Les Slow, from Pocklington, will be cycling from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in 11 days, to raise money for The Joshua Project and Young People Count.

Les said, "In May 2012 over four days, I rode the 300 miles from London to Paris with six others, including my two sons, in aid of a children’s charity in Bradford called The Joshua Project. It was an amazing experience and a wonderful way to celebrate reaching my 65th year. Together we raised well over £20,000.

"Some of the original team are coming together again for something even tougher: cycling the 943 miles from Lands' End to John o' Groats over 11 days from Friday 15 to Monday 25 May. Now at the age of 68, I am not sure that I will be able to manage the whole cycle ride but hope to complete at least half of it and not just the downhill sections!

"This time the money I raise will be equally split between the Joshua Project and Young People Count (YPC) based in Pocklington, East Yorkshire. The trustees of YPC have opened a Youth Centre in a redundant public house in the town. Our temporary tenancy comes to an end soon and we are making plans to move into our own premises.

"Your donations will encourage me to complete the journey. The sum raised will help to meet the very real needs of young people in two quite different Yorkshire communities; the issues though are much the same."
