Twenty people from the Diocese of York were ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop John Sentamu yesterday, in a service at York Minster which marked the end of his 6-month pilgrimage of prayer, witness and blessing.

Ellie Bangay, Susan Binks, Simon Bray, Jane Brown, Debbie Coyne, Maureen Desborough, Glyn Diggins, Ali Doolan, Dianne Gamble, Mary Jobling, David Johnson, Lyn Kenny, Mel King, Dotty Lambeth, Anthony Oram, Christine Strand, Rob Suekarran, James Trowsdale, Glenda Webb, and Neil Woodhall were ordained by Archbishop John Sentamu in a service at York Minster, which took place on the set of the Mystery Plays.

The service marked the end of Archbishop Sentamu’s 6-Month Pilgrimage across the Diocese of York. He has journeyed through 21 Deaneries: Whitby, Guisborough, Middlesbrough, Stokesley, Mowbray and Northern Ryedale in the Cleveland Archdeaconry. Bridlington, Scarborough, Harthill, North Holderness, Howden, Hull (Hull West, Hull Central & North and Hull East), Beverley and South Holderness in the East Riding Archdeaconry. South Wold, Derwent, Selby, New Ainsty, Easingwold, Southern Ryedale and York in the York Archdeaconry. According to his iPhone, the Archbishop’s 1,627,226 steps amounted to a walk of 1,578 miles (2,359.5km).

Adam Wogan was later ordained by the Bishop of Beverley, the Rt. Revd. Glyn Webster, in an evening service in the Choir at the Minster, making the total number of ordinations twenty-one.
