Jenny Hill, former Rector of the Parish of West Buckrose, would like to offer her poetry presentation, Voices of the First World War

Over the past 16 months, Jenny has performed at many events at festivals and in libraries and bookshops and with societies. Alongside readings, Jenny likes to encourage audience participation, which can lead to some interesting conversations.
Her poems are accessible and allow for opportunities for discussion and comment. The choice of material can be tailored to individual groups and interests as her anthology is made up of 49 poems, that cover a wide range of issues surrounding WW1 and the various anniversaries during the centenary years.

Jenny's presentations are free of charge and poetry books are available for £9.95 with all proceeds going towards the work of Help for Heroes.

From the Foreword by General the Lord Dannatt GCB CBE MC DL…

“One wonders what more could be thought, said or written about the First World War? Yet Jenny Hill has produced an absolutely gripping anthology of verse which tells again the well-known story but in a totally different way…
Jenny Hill has done something that verges on the unique. Her forty-nine poems weave a seamless thread from a shot in Sarajevo to the threshold of the Cenotaph. These poems are her poems but they tell other people’s stories and express the emotions of soldiers, sailors, airmen, nurses and civilians alike who struggled to make sense of the years from 1914 to 1918.”
