msm is a course for our time. Each of the 24 units combine excellent insight with practical learning, in a friendly environment which helps every participant to grow and develop. No matter what your level of experience of mission, this is currently one of the most significant missional tools for the Church in Britain - equipping local Christians to engage in a relevant way with their community, however diverse their culture or context. I encourage you to take a friend and see what God is showing you.

The Revd Stephen Lindridge, Fresh Expressions Connexional Missioner

The Methodist and Anglican churches are delighted to make MSM available locally. The next one-year part-time course launches in York in March 2017. Since 2007, more 2,000 people nationwide have completed the course, which focuses on new areas of outreach that engage with those outside the reach of the traditional church. Students include youth leaders, church council members, readers, ministers, home group leaders and anybody wanting to reach out in new ways.

Locally, the course is being headed up by a team which includes Fiona Fidgin and Rachel McCallam from the Methodist Church and Richard Walker and Terry Joyce from the Diocese of York Training Team.

Several other people will be contributing to the programme as the course proceeds.

Pete Atkins, convenor of the Fresh Expressions training hub, says, ‘It is a joy to see mission shaped ministry equipping people from a great range of all Christian backgrounds to share more effectively in God’s mission. In many cases, those involved have seen calls and visions clarified. Some have gone on to launch fresh expressions of church whilst others have been enabled to sustain them in their work. Many have helped existing churches to become more mission-shaped.’
