The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu will be streaming live on his Facebook page a short time of prayer this Sunday 22nd March.

The time of prayer will include the Lord’s Prayer and two Taizé Chants ‘Kyrie Eleison, Christe Eleison’ (Lord have compassion, Christ have compassion)’, and ‘Frieden, Frieden hinterlasse ich euch’ (my peace I leave, my peace I give you’). It will be around 10 minutes long and will be streamed from www.facebook.com/archbishopofyork at 10am, 12 noon, 4pm and 6pm.

The Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu said, “Whether we are confident and brave, or doubt-filled and fearful, God is the source of love and hope. Why not say the Lord’s prayer with me – ‘Our Father who art in heaven ….’ I will be praying on the hour every hour from sunrise to sunset this Sunday and streaming live four times through the day. Please join me in praying for healing for those who are ill from COVID-19 and giving thanks to all involved in health and emergency services.”

The Archbishops of York and Canterbury called for a National Day of Prayer and Action on Mothering Sunday (22nd March) - to light a candle at 7pm and put it in your window, ring someone who is isolated and vulnerable; buy an extra item and place it in your local food bank and to keep night shelters open.

The Lord's Prayer

Traditional

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Contemporary

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
