The Archbishop of York will be re-visiting the Harthill Deanery (around the market town of Driffield, in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds) for three days of mission from Saturday 2 to Monday 4 June 2018. This mission was rescheduled from March because of the heavy snowfall.

The Bishop of Hull, the Rt Revd Alison White said: “There are so many good things that God is doing in Harthill Deanery and green shoots appearing in people’s lives and in communities. It is great that the Archbishop is coming to share good news with us”.

It begins at 10.00am on Saturday 2 June with Morning Prayer at St Peter’s Church, Hutton Cranswick. At 10.30am the Archbishop will join locals for coffee, Q&A and a talk. Following lunch at The Bell Mill Garden Centre the Archbishop will attend the match at Driffield Cricket Club, chatting with members and spectators.

There is a Quiz Night and Bring & Share Supper at Sledmere Village Hall, Bridlington Road from 7.00pm at which the Archbishop will be sharing his journey of faith and Q&A.

All are welcome to join the Archbishop in worship on Sunday 3 June. There is a service of Holy Communion at St Nicholas, Ruston Parva at 9.00am, and a Family Service at St Martin, Burton Agnes at 10.45am – the Archbishop will be preaching at both services. At 2.00pm All Saints Church in Driffield is holding a service to mark Women’s World Day of Prayer – all are welcome to come along.

Margaret Rhodes, Local Secretary for the Women’s World Day of Prayer said, “We are all delighted that the Archbishop is able to join us for our rescheduled Women’s World Day of Prayer service. This year’s theme is ‘All God’s Creation is Very Good.’ The service will enable people to think and reflect on what we can do to care for the wonderful world in which we live. We are trusting that the Archbishop will inspire us with his energy and enthusiasm and hoping that many will come and join us - the service is not exclusive to women; everyone is welcome!”

If crafts are more your style go along to Crafty Church at St Mary’s in Fridaythorpe at 4.00pm where there will be fun and learning with craft activities for all. Finally, at 6.00pm on Sunday evening there will be a celebration service for the deanery at St Mary’s Church in Driffield. The Archbishop will be preaching there also.

On the final day of mission in Harthill, Monday 4 June, the Archbishop will be visiting local schools throughout the day – Wetwang CE Primary and Sledmere CE Primary Schools in the morning and Driffield School in the afternoon. Students will have the opportunity to meet the Archbishop, hear about his personal journey of faith and Q & As.

Ben Couper, Head of Music at Driffield School said, “We are very much looking forward to welcoming the Archbishop of York to Driffield School and Sixth Form on the afternoon of Monday 4th June. The Archbishop will attend a short concert in the Performing Arts block; meet students from the Driffield School Christian Union; and speak with other school student representatives from the wider school. This is a great opportunity to engage the school within the life of the community and showcase what Driffield has to offer.”
