Born and bred in West Yorkshire, although venturing briefly across the Pennines to study at Lancaster University, Peter joined the Operational Research department at Rowntree Mackintosh on his graduation in 1986.
There he undertook decision support projects for a wide range of departments, eventually becoming OR Manager for Nestlé UK, before leaving in 1999 to join a US business planning software company as European Development Director. All this time he had been living in York and worshipping at St Luke's, taking an active interest in the Deanery and Diocese - serving as Deanery Synod Secretary and DFA as well as a member of the Diocesan Synod and the DBF.
Since becoming Diocesan Secretary in 2006 he has played a part in supporting the ministry of the Archbishop and his Staff, the team at Diocesan House and all those who serve in parishes across the diocese. His role, as well as overseeing the legal, financial, synodical and administrative functions that are necessary in a diocese of this size, is to try to ensure that together we do whatever we can to build the life of the diocesan family. Peter is a director of the Diocese of York Educational Trust (DYET). He is married to Helen, a GP who currently works as a locum in the York area, and have a son, Matthew.
