The Diocese of York is committed to being a family of growing churches, and has produced a five-week course (ideal for Lent or any other season) to help churches grow.
It's edited by Gavin Wakefield (our Director of Training for Missional Ministry) and written by David Butterfield (our former Archdeacon of Generous Giving and Stewardship).
There are five sessions, which look at how individuals and churches can grow in Christ-likeness, Influence, Partnership, Numbers, and finishing with Commitment, giving participants a chance to recommit themselves to Christ and to serving him.
The material for each session includes:
- discussing spiritual disciplines that enable us to put ourselves in a place where Christ-likeness can develop in us
- looking at the way that people work in partnership in your church
- imagining what Jesus would say if he conducted an OFSTED inspection in the diocese, deanery, or church
- eating crisps!
