DESCRIPTION:This course is a collaboration with colleagues in Church schools in the Diocese of Leeds \nPLEASE NOTE – OUR SESSIONS ARE ONLY FOR THOSE WORKING IN AND WITH CE SCHOOLS IN THE DIOCESE OF YORK \nThe Bible Course: Schools Edition is a resource that offers a deeper view into the Bible and its relevance to leading and working in a church school. It is an eight-session group-based course that explores what the Bible is and the story it tells. For each session\, there are two 15-minute films to watch\, and a manual provides summaries of the key points\, space to take notes and discussion questions. \nThe Bible Course: Schools Edition also provides additional reflections about how the session content relates to working or leading in a church school and also links to Understanding Christianity and the SIAMS framework\, so that staff in church schools can gain a deeper understanding of the Bible and how to apply its wisdom to the work in their school. \nThe course will involve meeting with other school leaders in eight\, one-hour online Zoom sessions to discuss the materials for each session and share thoughts and reflections in a safe\, confidential forum. \nDate / Time \nThis course begins on Thursday 14th January\, 2027 / 4.00 – 5.00pm and will run fortnightly on a Thursday at 4pm for a total of 8 sessions (with adjustments made for school holidays) \nCost \n\nThis package is provided free of charge for schools in the service level agreement [SLA]\nBooking is via Eventbrite\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Governor Online \nPLEASE NOTE – OUR SESSIONS ARE ONLY FOR THOSE WORKING IN AND WITH CE SCHOOLS IN THE DIOCESE OF YORK \nThese hour-long forums give Church school governors the opportunity to learn about new guidance and initiatives\, explore existing responsibilities and share best practice. Education Team Officers will provide a question and answer session to meet the current needs of foundation governors and chairs. \nNo booking is required – All sessions are held online via Zoom with details for each session being circulated in the Monday email. A reminder is also sent to all foundation governors around a week or so before each session\, which will include the links to join. \nEach term there will be 2 sessions on the same day; 1 at 2.00pm and the other repeated at 7.00pm. Governors are welcome to drop in to whichever session is most convenient for them. \nThe rest of the sessions in the 2026/27 academic year will take place on the following dates; \nTuesday 16th March 2027 \nThursday 20th May 2027 \nAll at 2.00pm & 7.00pm \nCost \n\nThese sessions are provided free of charge for schools in the service level agreement\n\nAn Online Module for a self-led introduction to governance in a Church school is also available for all new foundation governors and any other governors who may find it useful. The session will explore the distinctive nature of Church of England schools and the special responsibilities of Church school governors\, including foundation governors. DESCRIPTION:An opportunity for retreat in the beautiful setting of Wydale Hall.\n\n\nRetreat Day\nfor Headteachers \nPLEASE NOTE – OUR SESSIONS ARE ONLY FOR THOSE WORKING IN AND WITH CE SCHOOLS IN THE DIOCESE OF YORK \nWydale Hall\, Scarborough \n9.30am – 3.00pm \nAn opportunity for retreat in the beautiful setting of Wydale Hall\, in order to reflect\, share and worship together as Church School headteachers. \nThe aim of the day is to enable you to take some time out and step aside from the usual routine\, to be refreshed and recharge your batteries in the beautiful surroundings of Wydale Hall. \nThe day will include some time for: \n– Practical activities \n– Reflection \n– Personal choice \n– Worship \nAn important part of the day is that all activities are optional\, and that time to relax and reflect is time well spent in terms of Headteachers feeling revitalised and refreshed. Therefore\, please do not feel under any obligation to join in if you would simply like some ‘time out’. \nThis event is not free. The cost is £60 which includes a buffet lunch. There is no need to print the ticket.
