DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE – OUR SESSIONS ARE ONLY FOR THOSE WORKING IN AND WITH CE SCHOOLS IN THE DIOCESE OF YORK \nThis new Chairs Development Network is designed to provide both training opportunities to enhance Chairs and aspiring Chairs around vision led strategic leadership\, together with an opportunity to network with other Chairs and aspiring Chairs to share practice and discuss both opportunities and challenges. \nEngagement with the network will help to promote: \n\nDevelopment of your governance leadership skills to enable you to effectively develop and lead the strategic direction of your board;\nDevelopment of your understanding of the role of a Chair in a church school in leading the vision and ensuring it has impact;\nAn understanding of your role within the context of school improvement and the role of the board in supporting and challenging the educational flourishing of your school as a church school including a focus on preparation for inspection;\nLearning how to develop your boards’ effective monitoring and evaluation of the schools’ theologically rooted Christian vision;\nOpportunities to network with other chairs from other similar schools to you to share best practice and discuss wider matters.\n\nThese sessions are intended to compliment the deeper training provided as part of our Development and Digging Deeper sessions. Chairs are encouraged to attend these sessions alongside the network to unpack unique church school aspects in greater detail. \nThe sessions for 2025/26 will be as follows: \nSession 1: Tuesday 14th October 2025 – 6.00 – 8.00pm – The role of the Chair and vision driven\, effective leadership. \nSession 2: Thursday 23rd April 2026 – 6.00 – 8.00pm – TBC – the content of this session will be decided by the network in Spring 2026 and will lead on from themes arising in our Development and Digging Deeper sessions. \nCost \n\nThese sessions are provided free of charge for schools but places must be booked via Eventbrite\n\n  \nAn Online Module for a self-led introduction to governance in a Church school is also available for all new foundation governors and any other governors who may find it useful. DESCRIPTION:Can you see yourself at the heart of village communities\, sharing our York Diocesan vision of Living Christ’s Story\, and building up the people of your parishes in mission and ministry? \nIn the beautiful Archdeaconry of York we have three rural  vacancies which we would like to share with you during our Rural Benefices Open Day. Come and pray with us\, and discern whether God is calling you to join us. \nBuckrose Carrs Benefice is a group of 6 parishes between the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds\, along the A64. The vacancy has previously been advertised as a House for Duty Post but it is hoped that this can be offered as a full-time post. \nGarrowby Hill Benefice is a group of 5 parishes 15 miles east of York and is a half-stipend post. Their worship includes formal sacramental and informal family worship\, enabling people to find a home to nurture their Christian faith. \nRural Ainsty Benefice is a single parish covering five churches and offers a half-stipend post to the west of York. They are a flock seeking a shepherd and excited to explore God’s plans for His Kingdom among their communities. \nThe Open Day will include a tour of the three benefices\, stopping at each to share their hospitality\, meet key people and hear their future plans. This links particularly to governors’ core functions of ensuring clarity of vision\, ethos & strategic direction and supporting leaders and holding them to account. \nYou can take part in the full programme or attend aspects relevant to the context of your school. \nSession 1: Christian Vision for Education \nThis session explores: \n\nThe Church of England Vision for Education\nThe development of theologically rooted Church school vision\nExploring how the Church school vision drives provison\n\nSession 2: Exploring the SIAMS Framework \nThis session explores: \n\nThe SIAMS inspection process\nThe key inspection question and how this is unpicked through the inspection questions\n\nSession 3: Distinctively Effective Governance \nThis session explores the principles of effective governance in a Church school with a particular emphasis on effective monitoring and evaluation strategies. \nThe training will focus on: \n\nOfsted and SIAMS expectations\nThe work of governors through link governor roles and committee structures\nThe place of school visits.\n\nDates / Times: \n\nSession 1 – Christian Vision and Leadership – Tuesday 21st October\, 6.00 – 8.00pm\nSession 2 – Exploring the SIAMS Schedule – Monday 3rd November\, 6.00 – 8.00pm\nSession 3 – Distinctively Effective Governance – Monday 8th December\, 6.00 – 8.00pm\n\nCost \n\nThese sessions are provided free of charge for schools but booking is required\nBooking is via Eventbrite (booking is separate for each session)\n\n

Education Team Officers will provide a question and answer session to meet the current needs of school leavers. \nThis event is not free. The cost is £30.00 for SLA members [£37.50 Non-SLA] which includes either a sausage or bacon roll (veggie / gluten free alternatives available)\, please indicate your preference on the booking form. There is no need to print the ticket. SUMMARY:Talking Money: Teaching and Preaching - Webinar for all clergy
DESCRIPTION:The aim of this one-hour session is to equip clergy to teach and preach about giving – to encourage a deepening of discipleship in believers and to stimulate a culture of generosity within churches as they outwork their vision. We will explore the spiritual foundation of giving in scripture and introduce you to a variety of resources to support small groups within churches as they explore and deepen their own experience of generosity. \nThe session will be run by Jonathan de Bernhardt Wood the Director of Giving and Income Generation and the Regional Giving Advisor Team from the Church of England’s Giving Directorate. \nClick here to sign up.
