Jonny Hedges has been appointed to the role of Growing Healthy Churches Revitalise Enabler within the Diocese of York’s Mission and Ministry Team.

This three-year post has been funded by the National Church to support our Diocesan commitment to enabling the missional and financial growth of 160 parishes who are part of Revitalise.

Jonny joins a team led by the Ven John Day, which accompanies these parishes and especially their lay and ordained leaders, through visits and through supporting learning communities.

Jonny, currently Digital Transformation Lead for the Diocese, brings a wealth of experience and skills. He was a Mustard Seed Associate Programme Lead based in the Middlesbrough and Guisborough deaneries where his relational and emotional intelligence encouraged the growth of local community mission. Jonny is also a passionate and skilled advocate for work with Children, Young People and Families having set up a charity, Blank Canvas, an ecumenical youth charity based in Redcar.

John Day said “I am thrilled that Jonny is coming to Revitalise as Growing Healthy Churches Enabler. His passion for helping local churches to flourish, his commitment to the Gospel and his experience and skill in making disciples, especially amongst young people, is invaluable. He will be such a real asset as we support and resource local churches to grow.”

Jonny said “I’m excited to join the Growing Healthy Churches Team and support Revitalise! My current and previous roles both within the Diocese of York and prior have been focused on supporting the local church in its mission and ministry, particularly in growing younger!”

Jonny takes up his new post at the beginning of February 2025.
