Could you help ensure the protection and sustainability of our churches?

The York Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches (DAC) would like to hear from specialists in building services – mechanical and electrical heating and renewable energies, installation and adaptation – who have the time and skills to be able to offer advice to the DAC in a voluntary capacity.

Most of the churches in the Diocese of York are listed buildings and part of the nation's heritage. It is our duty and privilege to help care for them. Changes to church buildings are managed through a statutory planning system, and our DAC is integral to that, advising on works at a regional level relating to conservation, alteration and appropriate development.

DAC Advisers provide invaluable advice on specialist areas. We offer a unique opportunity to help to ensure the long-term protection and sustainability of churches. We are looking for volunteers who will bring knowledge and/or practical expertise - but also imagination, insight, and new and diverse perspectives. An important criterion is a familiarity with and understanding of heritage buildings.

If this might be of interest to you, we would love to hear from you. Please download the attached document, which provides further details, some helpful links, and information about how you can put yourself forward for this role.
