Could you help ensure the protection and sustainability of our churches?

The York Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches (DAC) would like to hear from members of the clergy in the East Riding and York archdeaconries who have the time to serve as a member of the DAC.

Most of the churches in the Diocese of York are listed buildings and part of the nation's heritage. It is our duty and privilege to help care for them. Changes to church buildings are managed through a statutory planning system, and our DAC is integral to that, advising on works at a regional level relating to conservation, alteration and appropriate development.

The DAC is required to have regard for a church's purpose, and to this end we seek to include clergy who can represent the three archdeaconries,as part of achieving a balance of stakeholders. We have vacancies at present. and would be delighted to hear from those who would be able to attend meetings nine times per year, as well as the occasional site visit.

If this might be of interest to you, we would love to hear from you. Please download the attached document, which provides further details, some helpful links, and information about how you can put yourself forward for this role.
