Headteacher; Mrs Alison Stephenson

Deputy Headteacher

‘St Martin’s is a vibrant cohesive community and is indeed, as parents, carers and leaders all affirm, a family’ Ofsted 2018

Here at St Martin’s C of E Primary School we provide a vibrant and inspirational setting and due to our popularity our catchment area covers right across Scarborough, the Headlands and beyond.
Our learning environment, outcomes and curriculum that is offered to our 274 children is second to none and we were delighted to maintain our ‘good’ Ofsted grading in November 2018.

Since the appointment of our Headteacher in April 2017 all key areas of school improvement have been tackled, and we start 2019 with a cohesive staff, delightful children and strong and supportive Governors - all united to continuing our impressive improvement journey.

As a school our whole school priorities (which all staff play their part in) focus on Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling.

Our Opportunity
We are looking to appoint either an aspiring leader or existing senior leader to join us as our Deputy Headteacher from September 2019. You will already be an excellent class room practitioner within KS1/KS2 and have some leadership experience within your current school. With tailored support from our Headteacher we will further develop you and give you the skills, encouragement and experience within the profession to excel as a Deputy Headteacher.

The post carries a teaching commitment of 0.8 and will be either within KS1 or KS2. Upper KS2 is the preference although we will look at the strengths of the individual applicant.
As our Deputy Headteacher in our C of E Primary school you will have strong Christian values and (along with support from our Headteacher) lead this area across school.

We are looking for:
• A proven track record of raising both pupil attainment and standards of teaching and learning.
• A strong vision and ethos that supports our values and culture.
• An excellent practitioner with the ability to inspire children to learn
• Current experience of leadership in a primary setting.
• A teacher with a flair and passion for primary education who will embrace working and teaching in our school.

We can offer you:
• A warm, happy school where we value our C of E and community ethos and have a philosophy of treating each other with kindness and respect.
• Happy, enthusiastic and well behaved children
• A school with unique and inspiring learning environments
• An opportunity to work with an experienced and committed team and take a leading role in a school determined to reach the highest standards.

We are part of the North Yorkshire Coastal Opportunity Area that is prioritising improvements to numeracy and literacy outcomes, alongside a drive to recruit and retain high-quality, motivated teachers to the area. Teachers on the North Yorkshire Coast will have unique opportunities to engage in additional professional and leadership development through this programme, as well as access to fully-funded national professional qualifications.

We actively encourage you to visit us and meet with Alison Stephenson (Headteacher). We have the following visit dates available: Tuesday February 12th (PM), Thursday 14th February (after school) and Monday 18th February (AM)

The date of commencement for this post will be in September 2019. Interviews will be as soon as possible after the closing date.

Closing date: Friday 22 February at 9am

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive an overwhelming response. All candidates are advised to refer to the job description and person specification before making an application.

For an informal conversation about the role, to arrange a visit and for an application pack please contact James Annetts at Resourcing Solutions (North Yorkshire County Council) at or call 01609 534939 / 07966 261249
