The Diocese of York
St Mary’s Lowgate, Hull
& Assistant Curate Hull Minster
(0.2 Stipend / Part Time)
St Mary’s is a city centre church in the heart of Hull, which has almost no resident parish population but many opportunities to minister to those who work nearby or come into the city centre. The Church is a venue for ministry to the homeless and the deprived and has hosted a variety of arts events.
By Spring 2022 it is envisaged that it will share a vicar with Hull Minster and we are seeking an Interim Minster who will support and deepen the existing life of the Church and prepare them for a closer relationship with Hull Minster. The Interim Minister will model collaborative working with colleagues at the Minster but will not be expected to be closely involved in their day to day life.
The congregation is not large but is committed to offering a distinctive ministry to the city centre and retaining their choral tradition within the liturgy of the BCP. The commitment to develop their life and ministry is reflected in the ongoing building project which will bring greater flexibility and better resources to the church.
They seek an Interim Minister who will enable them to :
· Prepare for the future relationship with Hull Minster
· Engage with those who come into the City Centre
· Deepen their worship and life with God
· Offer support and encouragement with the building project, without needing to be closely involved
The church family are committed to offering supportive friendship to the new Interim Minister and would welcome a priest of any age or gender who will offer ministry for the equivalent of two days a week plus Sundays.
