Head teacher: Mrs Jo Jennings

Full-time established lower key stage 2 teacher required for September 2020

MPS2 to UPS1

Governors are seeking to appoint a recently qualified or more experienced teacher with a proven track record of improving children’s outcomes across the curriculum, to join our happy, hardworking and dedicated team.

This is a full-time, established teaching post and is an exciting opportunity for a suitably skilled and passionate teacher to become part of our friendly, vibrant and expanding church school. You will initially teach a lower key stage 2 class and plan alongside a parallel teacher as part of a close team. Being a 2-form entry school means that as a staff member you can access a host of opportunities while at the same time being supported, challenged and nurtured as a professional teacher. Every child matters at Selby Abbey School and we believe that it is our job to make sure that every child’s needs are met – no matter what challenges that may bring!

We require someone who:

· Is passionate and committed to see every child achieve their very best

· Has high expectations for children’s learning and progress

· Enjoys their work, has a positive outlook and is motivated to develop

· Is committed to team work and contributing to the wider life of the school

· Is creative and thinks outside the box

· Is willing to take on leadership at a level appropriate to them

· Is able to share and support our nurturing, caring ethos and reach out to parents in a positive, warm manner

· Is resilient and can manage change

We can offer you:

  • A solidly good school seeking to build on its many strengths
  • Brilliant children who love to learn and take responsibility for their learning
  • Ready access to our in-house inclusion team: SEMH lead, specific learning difficulties lead, senior learning mentor and Home School Support Worker
  • Dedicated teaching assistant support to enable quality first teaching and learning
  • A highly supportive environment – parents, governors, staff and leadership
  • A strong culture of learning across the whole school community with many CPD opportunities including those provided by North Star Teaching Alliance
  • A church ethos
  • A well-developed and inspiring curriculum

School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to Enhanced DBS Disclosure and satisfactory references. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please contact the headteacher to arrange a visit and request an application pack. Please state curricular strengths and interests.
