Is this for you?
We are a small Anglican Church in the heart of the diverse and vibrant community of Tang Hall in York. We would love someone to join us in our journey of discovering God’s vision for our church. After a long vacancy, we now have a new vicar, and it is a time of new beginnings.
There is loads of potential for outreach to students, families, children, and to support our young people in their walk with God. There’s lots of practical things you may want to help with too – such as developing new styles of worship services, enquirers' groups, nurture groups, and sorting out our IT!
We’re looking for someone who feels called to serve God as a disciple, and our mission is to help you to develop the gifts and skills that God has given you in a local church context. You’ll find your time with us stretching and rewarding.
We will provide:
- Support and friendship from within the congregation.
- An experienced mentor and separate placement supervisor who will meet with you regularly.
- A base from which to work: there is a church office and meeting spaces in the modern church building.
Housing: There is lots of local rented accommodation available which we can help you to find, and we are on a bus and cycle route to the city centre. The Belfrey is around 30 minutes’ walk from the church.
Your commitment: You will be expected to spend 12 hours a week in the parish to fit in with your work and study commitments, including Sundays.
We’ve had interns in the past, who have loved the experience of being in a family-oriented church. One even stayed on as a member of the congregation well after their placement ended, until he had to move on.
If you’re interested, please get in touch with the Revd Fran Wakefield at firstname.lastname@example.org for an informal conversation.
Please note this an appointment by the Parish of St Hilda, Tang Hall, and not by the Diocese of York.
