The Diocese of York
Priest in Charge
St Mark’s Newby and St Luke’s Scarborough
Working within the North Scarborough Group Ministry
Our two churches are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative and prayerful priest to lead us into this new chapter of our shared life and to actively support the wider Group Ministry. Our parishes cover much of the northern suburbs of Scarborough, including the Barrowcliff Estate where levels of deprivation bring particular challenges and where we wish to deepen our presence. We are committed to our communities and seek a priest who will encourage us in sharing God’s love with all.
St Mark’s is a busy, vibrant church whose informal and friendly congregation is committed to reaching people of all ages and currently has a Curate and a Families & Youth Worker. St Luke’s congregation is smaller and mostly retired but is active and committed to its community.
We are looking for a priest who will :
· Inspire us in our mission and ministry to the community
· Encourage lay ministry and the building up of all
· Preach and communicate God’s Word clearly and relevantly
· Lead collaboratively, valuing each person
· Deepen our prayer lives and experience of worship
We know parish ministry can be demanding and we are committed to support you practically and in prayer. We don't expect you to do everything, we will share in ministry with you and trust that we will flourish together.
Currently this opportunity is only available to clergy already serving within the Diocese of York
