Holocaust Memorial Day

Theme: Torn From Home "Time for Reflection”

Come to see a visual presentation arranged by the Rev’d David Simpson, plus input from pupils of Bootham School York, that will focus on the scope of the theme:

  • The meaning of home before genocide
  • Torn from home during genocide
  • A home after genocide

The three images above from the Holocaust Memorial Day website, show a refugee camp during the genocide in Rwanda, the Kinder transport, (Nazi persecution) and a burning village in Darfur. Other genocides include Cambodia, and Bosnia.

This is a ‘drop-in’ session when you are welcome to stay for as long or as short a time as you wish.

There will be opportunity throughout for gentle participation and to light a peace prayer candle. The time will conclude with prayer. For further details about Holocaust Memorial Day 2019, please visit www.hmd.org.uk
