Joining the nationwide Heritage Open Days programme that runs from September 11th to 18th Selby Abbey will be offering a full programme of events for all ages throughout the week.

On Saturday 11th there will be an online Minecraft Tour of Selby Abbey from 10.00am to 11.00am (see Abbey website for a zoom link).

Monday sees a guided tour of the Stained Glass in the Abbey – some of it Medieval – from 10.30am to 11.30am while on Tuesday the Celebrity Lunchtime Organ Recital Series continues with celebrity organist Eleni Keventsidou from Athens playing the Abbey’s historic Hill Organ. The recital begins at 12.30pm and admission is free.

On Thursday there will be a Selby Abbey Guided Tour from 1.00pm to 2.00pm while the week culminates in the Abbey’s traditional Medieval Day on Saturday 18th. Medieval Day will included dramatic battle re-enactments by the Normannis Re-enactment Group, demonstrations of wood carving and bee-keeping, exhibitions by local history groups, archaeology displays and see the story of farming through the ages. The story of brewing will be displayed by The Little Black Dog Brewery with recent brews to be enjoyed.

The Abbey – a heritage treasure - will be open daily from 10.00am to 4.00pm throughout the week and the coffee shop opens from 10.30am to 3.30pm each day
