Mother’s Day celebrations came early to Holy Trinity in North Ormesby when on Sunday (24th) Families Worker Vanessa Kirby hosted an Intergenerational Afternoon Tea. Funded by Faithfully Aging Better, the idea was to ask the everyone who meets for Family Fridays every Friday morning during term time in Trinity Centre, to invite Mums and Grandmothers to a special family gathering to celebrate all who we love and cherish. 110 people, including toddlers, children, young people, Mums, Dads, Nans and Grandads covering an age range between 10 months to 81 years came together for a wonderful afternoon. For one family it was an opportunity to bring together 4 generations.

A team met at 12 noon to make sandwiches and prepare the hall in Trinity Centre with tables set with spring-themed tableware and vases of daffodils to welcome in the spring. A wonderful range of handmade cakes and cream scones were baked by Norma Callaby from the Church family at Holy Trinity and there were plenty of flasks of tea and coffee for everyone to help themselves to.

There was also a creative element to the afternoon as every family was asked to draw their family on a fabric square which will be sewn together to make a community wall hanging.

There was a beautiful diversity to the afternoon with people from different faiths and backgrounds gathering to celebrate the love we share as families living in the heart of our local community.
