The RE Team at Archbishop Sentamu Academy has achieved the RE Quality Mark Gold award. The award assesses the quality of RE with regard to five different areas, including Learners and Learning, Teachers and Teaching and Subject Leadership. Gaining this award shows that the quality of RE at ASA is exemplary.

Victoria Murphy, Director of Initial Teacher Training, Induction and Religious Education at Archbishop Sentamu Academy said, "I am extremely proud of the RE Department, the students and the Academy as a whole for helping secure the REQM Gold Award for Archbishop Sentamu Academy. The students work incredibly well in RE to ensure they meet their targets and make outstanding progress. On the whole they enjoy the rich experiences the subject offers them and their results support this.

"We have Young Ambassadors for RE who have presented at National Conferences, we run trips to a local church and 6th Form Conferences and we provide extra-curricular assistance and revision sessions to ensure all students can achieve their potential. We think carefully about the topics we teach to ensure the requirements of the Diocesan Framework are met and that our students have the best experience they can in their RE lessons and we plan lessons to effectively include a range of teaching and learning strategies to engage our students.

"Most of all I believe the Christian nature of the Academy helps reinforce the values and lessons taught in RE meaning that students see a real-world connection in their learning. I am so lucky to have a dedicated team of specialist RE teachers who make all of this possible. Congratulations, Team RE!"
