There was a comedy strand running through our Come and See Mission weekend (12-15 March), and on Friday night, John Carter made his way to the unlikely comedy venue of Bridlington Priory.

Veteran stand-up comedian, Jimmy Cricket (who was appearing the next day on BBC1’s Pointless) had the audience rolling in the aisles during his hour long act, before going straight into a Q-and-A session with Bishop Graham Cray where he talked about his devout Roman Catholic upbringing, his son “who I call ‘Father’ because he is now a parish priest!” and some of the other Christian stand-ups he has admired and who have become his friends – including Tim Vine, Milton Jones and the late Sir Ken Dodd.
