Bishop of Whitby Paul Ferguson and Archdeacon of Cleveland Amanda Bloor are leading a commemorative walk from St Mary's, Whitby (upper picture), to St Mary's, Lastingham (lower picture), between Thursday 12th and Sunday 15th October.

Thursday 12 October: St Mary’s Whitby to St Hilda’s Egton
(9 miles but quite level)
Gather from 10.15am; prayers at 10.30am; setting off 10.45am.

Friday 13 October: St Hilda’s Egton to Goathland village car park
(6 miles; the easiest stage)
Gather from 10.15am; prayers at 10.30am; setting off 10.45am.

Saturday 14 October: St Mary’s Goathland to St John’s Newton-on-Rawcliffe
(8 miles, potentially more exposed, with some gradients)
Suggest parking at Goathland village car park (NB no parking by church).
Gather at church from 10.15am; prayers at 10.30am; setting off 10.45am.

Sunday 15 October: St John’s Newton-on-Rawcliffe to St Mary’s Lastingham
(7 ½ miles with some road walking)
Gather at church from 10.15am; prayers at 10.30am; setting off 10.45am.

3.00pm Closing service.

Everyone is responsible for their own transport arrangements, including arranging to leave a car at the end point each day and returning to pick up another from the start. Please bring your own picnic.

If people are unable to undertake the walk, they would still be welcome to come to the daily opening prayers and the final service.
