Tickets for York Minster’s 2018 Christmas Carol Concerts – the most popular event in the cathedral’s calendar – will go on sale next week.

In previous years, more than 45 per cent of tickets for the popular concerts have sold out on the first day of sales, with the most highly sought after seats at the front of the Nave often completely selling out within the first two hours.

Tickets for this year’s concerts, which take place on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 December at 7pm, will go on sale at 10am on Tuesday 25 September. The tickets will be available online via the York Minster website at www.yorkminster.org or by calling the cathedral’s Box Office on 01904 557256.

Commenting on the release of the tickets, Robert Sharpe, Director of Music at York Minster said:

“The Christmas Carol Concerts are an important festive tradition in York, with many people returning year after year as the start of their Christmas celebrations. With just under three months to go before the concerts we’re already fielding enquiries for this much-loved event.

“This year’s concerts will feature celebrity readers performing seasonal poetry and readings, as well as classical and traditional Christmas music sung by the full York Minster Choir and the Yorkshire Volunteers Band leading the audience in Christmas carols.”

Tickets for both concerts will go on sale on Tuesday 25 September at 10am. Tickets are priced at £30, £25 and £15 and are available from the York Minster Box Office online at www.yorkminster.org. Tickets can also be order over the phone on 01904 557256 or in person from York Minster’s welcome desks.

The concerts are part of a busy programme of services, events and activities at York Minster during Advent and Christmas including the Advent Procession on 2 December and a performance of Handel’s Messiah by the York Minster Choir on 8 December.
