The Diocesan Generous Giving Team is excited to be leading a new diocese-wide event which offers the opportunity to spend eight days collectively focusing on nurturing and encouraging generosity.
Our brand new Diocesan Generosity Week takes place between Sunday 26 September to Sunday 3 October 2021, coinciding with the Church of England's national Generosity Week.
The Diocese of York's Generosity Week gives us the chance to explore the values and priorities of our refreshed diocesan vision, 'Living Christ's Story'. As we think about the new 'transforming' strand of our diocesan strategy, being generous with God’s transforming gifts is key on our journey of that transformation, as we seek to put mission at the centre of all that we do.
Diocesan Generous Giving Adviser, Sammi Tooze, comments,
"We're really excited about this new diocesan initiative, and the impact it will have within our churches.
"It's been a joy to hear so many stories of generosity across our diocese, especially over the last 18 months, and this new initiative is a wonderful opportunity to give thanks and celebrate the giving that exists within our communities.
"As we continue to grow a culture of generosity, our Diocesan Generosity Week will help bring us together in our thinking on how we generously live Christ's story, as well planting seeds of experiencing the joy of giving.
"It's so easy to get involved, too - there are some really simple ideas for churches to encourage their communities to take part."
In this Diocese of York Generosity Week, we are encouraged to give time and space to inspire, encourage and celebrate how generous giving enables mission and ministry to flourish, deepen our understanding of God’s generosity towards us, and explore how we can live more generously in our daily lives.
"Our Diocesan Generosity Week will begin with a video reflection from Archbishop Stephen, which will help ground our thinking in the days following.
"We're encouraging churches to share their stories of generosity too, as a means of inspiring and celebrating across our family of churches - so do get in touch if you have a story to share!"
