Julia Robertson has begun work as the Start of Lay Ministries Adviser for the Diocese of York.

Julia has been working for the Diocese of Leeds as a Lay Training Officer and also as Principal of Spiritual Direction Training. She is skilled and experienced as a teacher and project manager and has worked for the Archbishop of York’s Youth Trust on the Young Leaders’ programme. Julia brings with her commitment to and experience of the church in rural communities across the Northern Province.

Julia joins the Lifelong Learning team at a time when the renewal of lay ministries lies at the heart of all that Living Christ’s Story hopes that we can become as the people of God in this Diocese. She will be involved in encouraging both new and existing lay ministries.

Lynn Comer, Director of the Lifelong Learning Team, said: “I am so pleased to welcome Julia to the Diocese and to the Lifelong Learning team as she joins us in discovering and revealing the gifts of the whole people of God. Enabling these gifts will be vital in helping us as a church to engage in God’s mission to the whole of life.”

In responding to what she is looking forward to doing in this new role, Julia said, “This is such an exciting time to join the Diocese and the team; I look forward to enabling lay ministers around the Diocese of York to live Christ’s story and release their many and varied gifts.”

Lynn adds, “I know the whole Diocese will want to welcome Julia to her new role and will be praying for her as she settles in.”
