After last year's success, our Diocesan Generosity Week returns this September!

Generosity is at the heart of our faith. Every day we see generosity in our churches and Christian communities, reflecting the generous God and growing in Christlikeness as we live out our faith. We believe in a generous God and our own generosity is a testament and hallmark of our faith in action, as Archbishop Stephen Cottrell, explains:

"Our faith starts with the most generous gift of all – God’s gift to us of life itself and new life and new hope in Jesus Christ. What we call 'generosity’ is just our response to these great gifts. I’m therefore delighted to commend these resources that help us explore God’s amazing generosity. This is what Generosity Week is all about. The stories in these podcasts, reflections and resources are moving, inspiring and encouraging. Just like in the parable of the sower, where the seed that falls on good soil grows a crop a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown, we see that every generous act grows further generosity."

Aligned with our reflections on how we each live Christ's story, this year's Diocesan Generosity Week returns to help us all pray, encourage, celebrate and give thanks for the generosity we see around us in a dedicated period of time. Between 25th September - 2nd October 2022, we will have time and space to reflect on God’s generosity and to celebrate it within our church’s ministry and mission. We invite you to explore God's generosity through eight days of service and worship materials, as well as stories from our churches of God's generosity in action.

Generous Giving Adviser, Sammi Tooze, comments,

"I am really looking forward to this year's Generosity Week - I am regularly moved and inspired by the stories I hear when travelling around our diocesan family of churches, and this week gives us all the opportunity to reflect more deeply on the part generosity plays in our lives.

"So often I speak about the joy of generosity - to both givers and receivers - and I'm pleased that at the heart of Generosity Week is this narrative to help us all grow a culture of joy in generosity and celebrate that in our communities."

There will be many ways for individuals and churches to get involved, including webinars and online events, resource materials for worship and prayer, stories and videos from churches and individuals sharing their experiences of generosity - all launched with a video message from Archbishop Stephen on 25th September. There will also be the opportunity to sign up for a daily newsletter to help you start each day with prayers, generous activities, reflections and more, as well as chance for your church to have a guest preacher to speak on either of the two Sundays!

Details of these resources and online events will be available towards the end of July.
