The debut tour by a Hull-based community choir will be launched this Friday 28th September, the first of seven dates in Hull and East Yorkshire.

The Believe in Hull choir was set up in early 2017, bringing together members of different churches as well as attracting friends and family. it was originally formed for a special Easter concert but such was the enthusiasm that the group has continued performing.

They launch their autumn tour at a harvest festival celebration at St Margaret’s Welcome Centre on the Longhill Estate, Hull, on Friday 28th September.

The itinerary also includes visits to Priory Baptist Church (29th September), Rise Hall (30th September), Brantingham, Brough on 5th October, St Nicholas in Beverley (19th October), St Albans Church, Hall Road in Hull on 21st October, and ending in the grand surroundings of St Charles Borromeo in Hull City Centre (26th October). They will be accompanied by resident pianist Susan Smethurst and local musicians at some of the venues. All of the events are free.

Director Kia Macpherson says: “I’m very excited about the tour and seemed the obvious next step for the choir. We enjoyed a successful 2017, culminating in a special appearance on BBC Look North last Christmas. In the end, we have built up a community of 200 choristers. However, we would welcome new faces as, inevitably, some of our members have other commitments."

Newcomers are welcome to join the choristers at forthcoming rehearsals. Contact Kia at believeinhullchoir@gmail.com for more details.

Believe in Hull is a cultural partnership of churches in Hull and East Yorkshire.
