The woods at Wydale Hall, York Diocese Retreat and Conference Centre, became the venue for ‘Forest Church’ on the Saturday of our Come and See Mission (12-15 March), as Martin Sheppard discovered when he hacked his way through the undergrowth:
Forest Church is a family-based experience of finding God in nature and creation led by the Revd Jackie Cray.
Around 30 people of all ages joined Jackie and some of the Manchester Diocese Mission Team visiting Southern Ryedale Deanery, starting in Wydale’s outdoor woodland chapel and fanning out to find, sketch, collect and draw examples of God’s handiwork amongst the trees and the evidence of wildlife.
And having thanked God in song for this fine day and for all the natural wonders he provides, everyone enjoyed a treat from Wydale’s superb firepit outdoor barbecue!
