When the Revd Paul Peverell stepped down as Chair of Governors at Marwood Church of England Infant School, he'd completed an impressive twenty-seven years since landing in the hot seat in 1995, just two years after becoming Vicar of Great Ayton with Easby and Newton-under-Roseberry.

A get-together to mark Paul's achievement brought together former and present Governors and staff members, including all three Headteachers appointed in Paul's time; Celia Wilson, Viv Smith and current Head Dorothy Walton.

The school's last Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) Report described Marwood as 'Outstanding', and remarked that "The excellent partnership between church and school is exemplified by the inspirational headteacher and vicar. They are both pivotal in ensuring exemplary leadership at all levels and good governance within this thriving church school."

Paul said, "It has always been a privilege to be involved with Marwood School as it gives such a wonderful start to education and seeks to be a Christian community upholding the values of Faith, Forgiveness and Friendship."

As Vicar of the parish, Paul remains a Governor at Marwood, and his successor as Chair has already been selected.

"I wish Vicky Bradley every joy in fulfilling the role," added Paul, who looks forward to continuing to lead worship in the school every Friday.
